Reception by journalists on arrival

Reception by journalists on arrival

Viktor was very well received as a journalist in Israel and this photo shows a reception in his name at the House of Journalism in Tel Aviv in 1973.

Next to his new car in Tel Aviv

This photo is taken in the parking lot of Beit Brodetski, a new immigrant absorption center in Ramat Aviv, a Tel Aviv suburb. At the time it was considered to be an “Elite” center for only the most privileged of new immigrants. There we lived for 9 months, including the period during the Yom Kippur War. The color of our new car was …canary yellow! Why? Because my father, impatiently waiting for his first time ever owned vehicle, decided not to wait for a more subdued color.

A reception at Moshe Kashti's house

Upon arrival from Moscow to Israel, our family was frequently hosted by respectable local families. Moshe Kashti was a deputy in Zahal and lived in Zahala - a prestige neighborhood for IDF officials in Tel Aviv. Later on in life, Alla worked as a chief doctor in Israel in Zahala, Tel Aviv.

My Bat Mitzvah gift - Charlie

Despite the struggles of immigrant life my family endured, I got what I begged for, on the day of my Bat Mitzvah - my puppy Charlie, who later emigrated with us to the US. We celebrated my Bat Mitzvah at our cozy apartment with a small group of friends.

In Nice, France with my father

Six months before my father had his first stroke, I visited my parents at their apartment in South France, where they stayed several times for 3-4 months at a time. My father dreamt of this kind of retirement and diligently studied the French language, while in France - convincing my mother to do the same. However, sadly he fell ill shortly after and they were forced to leave France, and never returned again.

This was one of the few photos taken of my father while he was already ill. In general, he did not like to be photographed. This is taken at his first grandson’s Mark Bar Mitzvah in 2002. My father passed away in 2003 - he unfortunately did not make it to his granddaughter’s Lara Bat Mitzvah in 2004. My daughter Victoria, his youngest grandchild, was named after her grandfather. She was born in 2005.
